Frequently asked questions

What is an ODT file?

ODT is the OpenDocument Text format, the default document format of LibreOffice Writer and OpenOffice Writer. It is an open standard, but a PDF is easier to open on any device.

Do I need LibreOffice installed to convert ODT to PDF?

No. The conversion runs on our servers, so you only need a browser.

Will the PDF look like my ODT document?

In most cases, yes, because we use LibreOffice to lay out the pages. Unusual fonts are replaced by the closest installed font, so line breaks can shift slightly.

Can I convert other OpenDocument files?

Yes. ODT and OTT text documents work here, ODS spreadsheets work in Excel to PDF and ODP presentations work in PowerPoint to PDF.

Can I convert a password-protected ODT file?

Yes. Enter the password when asked. It is used only for this conversion and is not stored.

Are my documents deleted after converting?

Yes. They are deleted from our servers automatically after 2 hours, and you can delete them straight away from the result screen. Files are encrypted in transit.
