What can Edit PDF do?

  • Edit existing text in place, in the document's own font when it has the letters you type, or in a matching open font.
  • Find and replace across the whole document, with match case and whole word.
  • Add text boxes, images, signatures, stamps, check marks and today's date.
  • Highlight, underline, strike out, draw, add shapes and sticky notes. They are real PDF annotations that any reader shows.
  • Add links to web pages, email addresses or other pages in the document.
  • Rotate, insert, duplicate, reorder and delete pages, or add pages from another PDF.
  • Your edits are kept on this device for 2 hours, so you can come back to them.

How do I edit text in a PDF?

To edit text in a PDF, click any line in Edit PDF and type: the old words are removed from the file and the new ones are drawn in their place. PDFDaily uses the same font, size and colour when the document's font has the letters you need, and everything else on the page stays exactly as it was. If a letter is missing from the embedded font, you pick a very similar open font and it is embedded for you.

What can I add with this PDF editor?

Edit PDF lets you add text, images, signatures, annotations, shapes, links and stamps to any page:

  • Text in Helvetica, Times, Courier and open fonts that match Arial, Times New Roman, Courier New, Calibri and Verdana.
  • Images and signatures: place, resize, rotate and set their opacity.
  • Annotations: highlight, underline, strike out, sticky notes, callouts and freehand drawing.
  • Shapes: rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows in your colours.
  • Links to a web address, an email address or a page in the document.
  • Stamps such as Approved or Draft, and symbols for paper forms.

Can I edit pages and forms too?

Yes, the same editor rotates, inserts, duplicates, reorders and deletes pages, and fills or creates form fields. Forms open ready to fill, and the Forms tool lets you add fields, detect them automatically and set the tab order. To sign a document, see Sign PDF; to remove sensitive content for good, use Redact PDF.

Frequently asked questions

How do you edit a PDF file for free?

Open the PDF in Edit PDF, click a line of text to change it or pick a tool to add text, images, shapes or links, then select Save. Editing is free with no daily limit, because it runs in your browser.

Can I change the text that is already in my PDF?

Yes. Choose Edit text and click a line. Your new text replaces the old one in the file itself, so it is not just covered. When the document's font doesn't include a letter you type, we suggest a very similar open font, such as Carlito for Calibri.

Is it safe to edit a PDF online here?

Yes. The editor runs in your browser and saves the PDF on your device, so your file is never sent to a server. It works even when your daily task limit is used up.

Can I edit PDF pages online, such as adding or deleting them?

Yes. Rotate, insert, duplicate, reorder and delete pages from the page bar, or add pages from another PDF.

Will other PDF readers show my highlights and notes?

Yes. Highlights, notes, drawings, shapes, stamps and links are saved as standard PDF annotations, so Adobe Reader, Preview and browsers show them.

Is whiteout the same as removing text?

No. Whiteout covers content with a white box, but the text underneath can still be found by search tools. To remove sensitive content for good, use Redact PDF.
