What can Split PDF by size do?

- Free for files up to 200 MB, within the free daily server task quota.
How do I split a large PDF into smaller files?
Split PDF by size cuts a large PDF into smaller files that each stay under the maximum size you enter, in MB or KB. The tool adds pages to a part until the next page would push it over the limit, then starts a new part. Pages keep their order and are never cut.
Should I allow compression?
Allow compression is on by default and compresses the file first, so fewer parts are needed. Images may be stored at lower quality as a result. Turn it off if you want every page kept exactly as it is, and accept a few more parts.
What happens when a single page is too large?
A page that is bigger than your limit is put in its own file, and a warning tells you which one. Allow compression, or shrink the file first with Compress PDF to a size.
Files are processed on our servers and deleted automatically after 2 hours. For other ways to cut a file, see Split PDF.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a large PDF for email?
Enter the attachment limit of your email service as the maximum size and select Split PDF. Every part comes out at or under that size, so each one can be attached.
Can I split a PDF into smaller files of a set size?
Yes. Enter the largest size you want per file in MB or KB; the default is 1.5 MB.
What if one page is bigger than my limit?
That page is placed in its own file and you see a warning. Allow compression, or use Compress PDF to a size, to make it smaller.
Does splitting by size reduce quality?
Only if compression is on. Allow compression is on by default and may store images at lower quality so fewer parts are needed; turn it off to keep pages exactly as they are.
Will each part be exactly the size limit?
No. Each part is at or below the limit, but pages are never cut, so some parts are smaller.
Is my PDF uploaded when I split it by size?
Yes. This mode runs on our servers. Files are encrypted in transit and deleted after 2 hours.
