  • Shows the current title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, dates and language.
  • Add custom fields and keep the XMP copy in sync.
  • Remove all metadata, including XMP, thumbnails and private application data.
  • Edit many files at once: fields you leave empty stay unchanged.
  • Keeps the original file name.

What is PDF metadata?

PDF metadata is the set of properties stored inside a file, such as title, author, subject, keywords, creator software and creation date. These properties show up in search results, file managers and document properties dialogs. Edit metadata shows the current values so you can correct them.

How do I edit PDF properties?

To edit PDF properties, change the title, author, subject or keywords in Edit mode and select Save metadata. Open More options for creator, producer, dates, language and custom fields. To delete every property instead, switch to Remove all or use Remove PDF metadata.

Is it safe to edit metadata online?

Yes, Edit metadata runs on your device, so the file is never uploaded. After saving you can continue with Compress or Protect PDF without adding the file again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the title of a PDF?

Add the PDF to Edit metadata, type the new title and select Save metadata. Many PDF readers and browsers show this title instead of the file name.

How do I change the author of a PDF?

Type the new name in the Author field and select Save metadata. With Keep XMP metadata in sync on, both copies of the properties are updated.

What is XMP?

XMP is a second copy of the document properties stored as XML inside the PDF. Many apps read it before the classic fields, so we update both when Keep XMP metadata in sync is on.

Can I edit the metadata of several PDFs at once?

Yes. Fields you fill in are applied to every file. Fields you leave empty keep each file's own value.

Does editing metadata change the pages?

No. Only the properties change. Pages, text and images stay as they are.

Is my PDF uploaded to edit its metadata?

No. Edit metadata runs entirely in your browser.
