What can PDF to image do?

  • JPG, PNG, TIFF and WEBP output.
  • 72, 150 or 300 dpi, or any value up to 600 dpi.
  • Full colour, grayscale or black and white.
  • Choose pages or a range, and one multi-page TIFF if you need it.
  • Or extract the pictures embedded in the PDF in their original quality.
  • Very large pages are limited to 100 megapixels, and we tell you.

How do I convert a PDF to an image?

PDF to image renders every page you select as a separate picture in JPG, PNG, TIFF or WEBP. Pick the resolution (72, 150 or 300 dpi, or a custom value up to 600 dpi) and full colour, grayscale or black and white. Each image is named after the PDF and page number, such as report-3.jpg, and several images arrive as a ZIP.

Which format is best for a PDF to picture conversion?

The best format depends on what you will do with the picture:

  • JPG for photos, email and social posts, with Normal, Recommended or High quality. See PDF to JPG.
  • PNG for text, charts and screenshots, because it is lossless. See PDF to PNG.
  • TIFF for archiving, fax and print, including one multi-page TIFF.
  • WEBP for websites, where smaller files load faster.

Can I get the photos out of a PDF instead?

Yes, choose Extract images to save the pictures embedded in the PDF in their original quality instead of whole pages. This is the better choice when you want a photo or logo on its own. You can also use Extract images from PDF.

Your files are deleted automatically after 2 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn a PDF into a picture?

Add the PDF, choose JPG, PNG, TIFF or WEBP, and select Convert to images. Each page becomes one image file, and several images download together as a ZIP.

Which image format should I choose?

JPG suits photos and sharing, PNG keeps text and diagrams sharp because it is lossless, TIFF suits archiving and print, and WEBP gives small files for websites.

What resolution should I use to convert a PDF to an image?

150 dpi suits screens and sharing. 300 dpi suits printing. Higher values make larger files.

Can I get the photos inside the PDF instead of whole pages?

Yes. Choose Extract images, or use Extract images from PDF. The embedded pictures are saved in their original quality.

Are my files deleted after conversion?

Yes. They are processed on our servers, encrypted in transit, and deleted automatically after 2 hours. You can also delete them right away from the result screen.

How many PDFs can I convert to images for free?

It depends on your plan. File size, page count and tasks per day are limited per plan; the exact limits are shown on the page before you upload anything, and a free account raises them.
