What can PDF to Excel do?
- Finds tables from ruling lines and from the alignment of text.
- One sheet per page, one sheet per table, or all tables in one sheet.
- Excel XLSX, or CSV with one file per table in a ZIP.
- Numbers such as 1,234.50 or 1.234,50 become real numbers, or keep everything as text.
- Whole page layout puts every line of text into rows when there are no tables.
- Scanned PDFs are recognized with OCR first.
How do I convert a PDF to Excel?
To convert a PDF to Excel, add the PDF, choose Tables only or Whole page layout and select Convert to Excel; you download an XLSX file with each table in editable cells. Arrange the result as one sheet per page, one sheet per table or all tables in one sheet, and convert all pages or a page range.
Why not just copy the table out of the PDF?
Copying a table from a PDF usually breaks the columns, while PDF to Excel detects the grid and keeps each value in its own cell. Number-like text becomes real numbers, so formulas work straight away. Your files are deleted from our servers automatically after 2 hours.
Can I get CSV instead?
Yes, choose CSV as the format, or open PDF to CSV; you get one CSV file per table in a ZIP. To go the other way, use Excel to PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can you convert a PDF to Excel?
Yes. PDF to Excel finds the tables in your PDF and saves them as editable cells in an XLSX file, or as CSV.
Is it free to convert PDF to Excel?
Yes. You can convert without an account within the file size, page and daily task limits shown on the page, and a free account raises them.
Will every table be found?
Tables with ruling lines are found reliably. Tables without lines are found from the alignment of the text, which works for regular columns, and merged cells are approximated.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Excel?
Yes. Choose Scanned (OCR) and the text is recognised first, then the tables are detected.
What if no tables are found?
We tell you and do not count the task. Try Whole page layout, which exports every line of text into rows.
Do numbers stay as numbers?
Yes, by default. Number recognition set to Automatic turns values such as 1,234.50 or 1.234,50 into real numbers; choose Keep as text to leave every cell exactly as printed.
