How do I split scanned pages in half?
Split PDF pages in half turns scanned two-page spreads into single pages by cutting each page at the fold. Book and magazine scans often show two pages on one sheet, and one page per PDF page reads better on phones and prints correctly.
Can I split a PDF down the middle or across?
Yes: a vertical cut splits each page down the middle into left and right halves, and a horizontal cut splits it into top and bottom. The cut is at 50 percent by default, and you can set another percentage when the fold is not in the middle. Pages that are not spreads, like a cover, are skipped so they stay whole, and you can exclude other pages by number.
How do I keep the pages in reading order?
For a scanned saddle-stitched booklet, turn on Booklet scan so the halves come out in page order. For books read from right to left, turn on the right-to-left option.
Everything runs on your device, and the result is a single PDF. To trim scanner edges afterwards, use Crop PDF; to cut the document into separate files, use Split PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can you split a PDF page in half?
Yes. Split PDF pages in half cuts each page into two, down the middle or across, and puts each half on its own page in one new PDF.
How do I split an A3 page into two A4 pages?
Choose a vertical cut at 50 percent. A landscape A3 page is cut into two halves that are each the size of a portrait A4 page.
Can I cut somewhere other than the middle?
Yes. Enter a percentage to cut at that point, which helps if the spine is off-centre.
Can I keep the cover page whole?
Yes. Skipping pages that aren't two-page spreads is on by default, and you can also list pages to exclude from the cut.
Do I get one file or several?
One. You get a single PDF with the halves as separate pages. Use Split PDF if you want separate files.
Are my files uploaded when I split PDF pages in half?
No. This tool runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share the result or save it to a cloud drive.
